TransFormazioni

A project between dance and gender identity

The project TransFormazioni, among the winners of the ACCCADE call by Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna, was created as a cultural initiative with both regional and international scope, aimed at promoting profound social change. Through an innovative artistic model that places dance at its core, the project seeks to raise awareness in the artistic and cultural sector about issues related to gender transition and identity.

The relationship with one’s own body is a crucial and delicate element for those undergoing a transition journey. TransFormazioni focuses on this connection, creating supportive communities within safe and protected environments. The objective is twofold:

  • Raise awareness: To train professionals and cultural practitioners on transgender issues in order to combat discrimination.

  • Connect: To strengthen international artistic collaborations in order to build a fairer, more aware, and more inclusive future.

Within the framework of TransFormazioni, we are pleased to host a key stage in the new work of Michelle Scappa.

The artist will present a first public sharing of her new production, “Used to play alone” (a production by Nexus Factory). The performance is the outcome of the research carried out during the artist residency held at DAS di Bologna from April 20 to 24.

At the end of the presentation, the audience is invited to take part in a moment of deeper reflection and dialogue: a conversation with the artist moderated by Flavia Zaganelli, to explore the themes and creative processes that guided the research during the residency days.
