Definitions
Cookies are small text fragments (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (browser) to be reused during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later, even after several days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to the user’s preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
Similar technologies, such as web beacons, transparent GIFs, and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, may be used to collect information on user behavior and service usage.
In the remainder of this document, we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies simply as “cookies”.
Types of cookies
Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, we can distinguish different categories:
“Technical” cookies (analysis and performance).
These cookies are used to collect and analyze website traffic and usage anonymously. Although they do not identify the user, these cookies make it possible, for example, to detect whether the same user returns to connect at different times. They also make it possible to monitor the system and improve its performance and usability. Disabling these cookies can be done without any loss of functionality, except for some interactive online services.
Profiling cookies. These are permanent cookies used to identify user preferences (anonymously or otherwise) and improve their browsing experience. The websites of the Municipality of Modena do not use this type of cookie.
Third-party cookies
When visiting a website, you may receive cookies both from the visited site (“first-party”) and from sites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is the “social plugins” of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn, etc. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the page of the hosting site. The most common use of social plugins is aimed at sharing content on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by their respective privacy notices, to which please refer. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, below are the web addresses of the various notices and the methods for managing cookies.

Google Analytics
The website also includes components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). In this case as well, these are third-party cookies collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host site (performance cookies).
Google Analytics uses “cookies” to collect and analyze anonymously information on the behavior of users of Associazione Culturale Nexus websites (including the user’s IP address). This information is collected by Google Analytics, which processes it for the purpose of preparing reports for the operators of Associazione Culturale Nexus regarding website activities. Associazione Culturale Nexus does not use (and does not allow third parties to use) Google’s analysis tool to monitor or collect personally identifiable information. Google does not associate the IP address with any other data held by Google, nor does it seek to link an IP address with a user’s identity. Google may also disclose this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf.

Users may selectively disable Google Analytics by installing the opt-out component provided by Google on their browser. To disable Google Analytics, please refer to the following link:

Cookie duration
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or the logout command is executed. Other cookies “survive” browser closure and are also available during subsequent visits by the user.
These cookies are called persistent cookies, and their duration is set by the server when they are created. In some cases, an expiration date is set; in other cases, the duration is unlimited.
By browsing the pages of this website, you may interact with sites managed by third parties that may create or modify persistent and profiling cookies.
Cookie management
Users may decide whether or not to accept cookies by using their browser settings.
The total or partial disabling of technical cookies does not compromise the use of the website’s features, except for some interactive services.
The setting may be defined specifically for different websites and web applications.
