Simona Bertozzi

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

Graduated in DAMS of Bologna, since 2007 she has been pursuing an original path of choreographic research and production, creating works with professional dancers as well as with teenagers, amateurs, asylum seekers, second-generation immigrants, and athletes.<\/p>\n

In her work, choreography becomes a field of events \u2014 a dynamic system in which the body turns into a driving force for new anatomical punctuations and relational trajectories. Her creations emerge from interactions with other fields of knowledge and physical practices, turning the creative act into an opportunity to embrace multiplicity as a vital form of understanding.<\/p>\n

In 2007 she won the choreographic competition <\/span>GD\u2019A \u2013 Giovani Danzautori dell\u2019Emilia Romagna<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 2008 she founded <\/span>Compagnia Simona Bertozzi | Associazione Culturale Nexus<\/i><\/b>.<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

In 2008 she was the Italian choreographer selected\u00a0 <\/span>Aerowaves <\/b>Festival at The Place Theatre (London) and, in the same year, with the solo <\/span>Terrestre<\/i><\/b>,<\/b> she took part in the international project <\/span>Choreoroam<\/i><\/b>, <\/b>supported by British Council\/The Place, Dansateliers\/Rotterdam, and Bassano Opera Festival.<\/span>

With the collective <\/span>Gemelli Kessler<\/i><\/b> (Simona Bertozzi, Marcello Briguglio, Celeste Taliani), she won <\/span>Il <\/span><\/i>Coreografo Elettronico 2009<\/i><\/b> as Best Independent Production with the video dance work <\/span>Terrestre \u2013 movement in still life<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2012, the collective created <\/span>I was wondering<\/span><\/i>, a video dance piece made to celebrate the centenary of Michelangelo Antonioni\u2019s birth<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Over the years, she has developed significant collaborations with artists and scholars, including musicians Francesco Giomi, artistic director of Tempo Reale, Luca Perciballi, and Claudio Pasceri; scholars Enrico Pitozzi and Cristiana Natali, professors at the University of Bologna; and choreographer and dancer Tabea Martin, with whom she co-created <\/span>This is my last dance<\/span><\/i>, a work that toured widely across Europe, including the Swiss Dance Days.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      Training<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>

      From 2004 to 2008 she led training and research workshops in contemporary dance for students of the Department of Music and Performing Arts (DAMS), University of Bologna, in collaboration with Professor Eugenia Casini Ropa, and in 2012 with Professor Elena Cervellati.<\/span><\/p>\n

      In 2013 she won the call for external teaching positions (floor work technique) within the three-year project on Choreutic Technical-Compositional Disciplines promoted by the <\/span>Accademia Nazionale di Danza<\/span><\/i> in Rome.<\/span>
      \n<\/span>From 2015 to 2017 she was engaged in the design and realization of <\/span>VOLCANO \u2013 Choreography and Complexity<\/span><\/i>, a project conceived and directed with Enrico Pitozzi, in collaboration with L\u2019arboreto Teatro Dimora di Mondaino and supported by the AnticorpiXL Network.<\/span><\/p>\n

      From 2020 to 2022 she conducted intensive workshops for the Luca Ronconi School at <\/span>Piccolo Teatro di Milano<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>
      \n<\/span>In 2021 she led a performance-masterclass with second-year students of the Dance Theatre course at <\/span>Civica Scuola Paolo Grassi<\/span><\/i> in Milan.<\/span><\/p>\n

      In 2025 she is teaching at the <\/span>Accademia Nazionale di Danza<\/span><\/i> with the course: <\/span>2nd Three-Year Cycle in Composition<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n
